Originally located in North Hollywood, California, The Sanford Meisner Center for the Arts was the first and only theater and school created by Sanford Meisner himself which bore his name. Originally, in 1985, Sanford Meisner and Jimmy Carville co-founded The Meisner/Carville School of Acting on the Island of Bequia in the West Indies They later extended the school to California at The Sanford Meisner Center for the Arts a theater company which was create by Sanford Meisner, Jimmy Carville, Martin Barter and Jill Gatsby. The Sanford Meisner Center for the Arts was the only school created by Sanford Meisner himself. In February 2013, Martin Barter let the theater go.
